If you've never looked for a job, or, if you're a seasoned professional
considering a career change, we can help you. If you're an employer in
search of applicants, recruiting assistance, information about hiring
incentives, and other employment needs, we can help you, too. And if we
don't have the service you're looking for, we'll point you to an organization
that can answer your question.
Check out the descriptions below and choose where you want to go!
OAKLAND CAREER
CENTER
Looking for work or information about training? The Oakland Career Center,
managed by the PIC, offers a wealth of resources and services for job
seekers, from extensive job listings to job search workshops to Internet
and fax access.
SERVICES FOR
DISLOCATED WORKERS
Have you recently been laid off from your job in the Oakland area? The
PIC's Dislocated Workers Program provides services to help you return
to work as quickly as possible. If you need to update your skills, look
into pursuing a new field, or need specialized job search assistance,
we can help.
SERVICES FOR
YOUTH
Are you a young person looking for your first job? The PIC is a valuable
resource for youth (ages 14-21) interested in gaining job search skills
and work experience. We offer summer and year round opportunities designed
to increase young people's job preparedness and to meet employers' hiring
needs.
TRAINING PROGRAMS
Interested in a construction job? Or, do you need to update your computer
skills? Maybe you want to train for a career in health care. Work with
the PIC to make your career plans a reality! The PIC's in-house training
program, Cypress Mandela/Women in Skilled Trades
Training Center, provides students with a solid construction background.
We also work with a number of other community agencies which provide job
training and placement services to local residents. Check our directory
of training providers to find the one that meets your needs.
WELFARE TO WORK
Welfare-to-Work Request for Qualifications (RFQ) The goal of this RFQ
is to identify organizations capable of providing hardest-to-serve TANF/CalWORKS
recipients with services under the Department of Labor's Welfare-to-Work
program.
